According to the dictionary "equilibrium" is: a state of balance between opposing forces or actions that is either static or dynamic. A state of balance. it sounds great, but we all know how much of a challenge it can be to achieve that in this day and age. For travelers in particular, maintaining a sense of physical and spiritual equilibrium can feel next to impossible. There are flights and flight delays, there's waiting for luggage that may or may not arrive, foreign airports, stations and streets to navigate - sometimes it seems everything is conspiring to throw us off track. Thankfully, Balance is here to help restore a little balance.
From the first sip of this spectacular blend, the body seems to reconfigure itself along a more peaceful meridian. Rosehip makes an excellent tonic for a tired and worn out body. Anise was well known amongst ancient Egyptians to rejuvenate the digestive system and soothe your respiratory pathways and raspberry is known to improve your vitality. Licorice is a powerful herb that eases body tensions and clears the respiratory system. The spice components of clove and cardamom jump start your entire body. There is much historical evidence to suggest that Nettle, a component of the blend has the ability to settle the body. Some natural historians report that ancient druid herbalists frequently prescribed nettle for its natural medicinal properties. Likewise calendula, has long been prized by herbalists for its ability to cleans and detoxify the body, in particular the liver and gallbladder. Safflower, another component is also believed in natural medicine circles to enhance blood circulation and restore balance to the body.
Taken together, these herbs work to restore internal order in the body and make us feel better about ourselves. (Not only that, but they taste great! The cup offers a mellow herbaceous character with light spice that our taste testers found irresistible.) The next time you're feeling a little out of the loop, ask for a cup of Balance, your body will thank you.
IDEAL BREWING TEMPERATURE: 100ºC/212ºF
HOT BREWING METHOD:
Bring filtered or freshly drawn cold water to a rolling boil. Place 1 slightly heaping teaspoon of loose tea for each 7-9oz / 200-260ml of fluid volume in the teapot. Pour the boiling water into the teapot. Cover and let steep for 3-7 minutes according to taste (the longer the steeping time the stronger the tea).
ICED TEA BREWING METHOD (Pitcher): (To Make 1 Liter/Quart):
Place 6 slightly heaping teaspoons of loose rooibos or 6 tea bags into a teapot or heat resistant pitcher. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 1¼ cups/315ml over the rooibos. Steep for 5 minutes. Quarter fill a serving pitcher with cold water. Pour the brewed rooibos into your serving pitcher straining the rooibos or removing the bags. Add ice and top-up the pitcher with cold water. Garnish and sweeten to taste. A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced rooibos is to increase the strength of the hot rooibos brew since it will be poured over ice and diluted with cold water.
ICED TEA BREWING METHOD (Individual Serving):
Place 1 slightly heaping teaspoon of loose rooibos or 1 tea bag into a teapot for each serving required. Using filtered or freshly drawn cold water, boil and pour 6-7oz/170-200ml per serving over the rooibos. Cover and let steep for 5 minutes. Add hot rooibos herbal tea to a 12oz/375ml acrylic glass filled with ice, straining the rooibos or removing the bags. Not all of the tea will fit, allowing for approximately an additional ½ serving. Sweeten and/or add lemon to taste. A rule of thumb when preparing fresh brewed iced rooibos is to increase the strength of hot rooibos since it will be poured over ice and diluted.
FOOD SAFETY ADVISORY: We strongly recommend using filtered or freshly drawn cold water brought to a rolling boil when brewing all types of tea. Today's water has been known to carry viruses, parasites and bacteria. Boiling the water will kill these elements and reduce the potential incidence of water-borne illnesses.
RECOMMENDATION: We recommend the use of our '1 Cup of Perfect Tea' measuring spoon (Item# 11MS-1370) for best results. Please contact Metropolitan Tea to place an order.
ANTIOXIDANT BENEFIT: For a greater antioxidant benefit brew longer and use more tea.
